Since I was little I always knew what I wanted to be
I do not have very clear the day that all this began, what I do remember is that the union between music and I was love at first sight.
I was born in Caracas – Venezuela. I grew up and lived in Artigas, a well-known neighborhood in the west of the city where the sounds of the street were full of salsa. I grew up listening to El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Oscar de Leon, La Sonora Ponceña, La Fania All-Stars, La Dimension Latina, among many other legendary salsa groups, but above all I grew up listening to my lifelong idol, the great Hector Lavoe
In school I mastered and learned to play several instruments and my mother, being a great visionary, decided to get me into a music school called “Joan Sebastian Bach”.
My first steps, so to speak, were in some local groups in Caracas under the guidance of Edwin Salgado, a great Venezuelan arranger and pianist.
From then on I continued to evolve. I had the fortune and the blessing of being a student of one of the largest percussionists in Venezuela, such as Arnaldo “patatín” Guacarán. A “patatín” I owe a lot of what I have learned and I am still learning today.
Then, I made the decision to leave my comfort zone and show that it was done. That’s how I arrived in Quito – Ecuador, where I was initially with the Orchestra “The Royal Band”. With “The Royal Band” I was in many local stages and festivals. Being also nominated for the awards “My National Bands 2019”.
I participated in the “Salsa Congress Ecuador 2018” which meant for me an excellent personal and professional experience.
I am currently with the friends of “La Legión Orquesta”. I also carry out a wonderful project called “Maraña City”. “Maraña City” is a project composed of 3 Ecuadorians, 1 Cuban and a Venezuelan (me) that under the slogan of “sincere music” we want to make known through the music and lyrics of daily and social themes our Latin culture. With “Maraña” we were recent winners of the “Selina Contest Music 2019”, in March 2019.
And well, here I am. Moving forward also my own project. Welcome to my website and I hope you enjoy being here.
Let the music continue playing. Thanks for being.
I love
